Chocolate and Health

Men who eat chocolate and candy live almost a year longer than those who do not. So says a study published in Lancet, the famous British medical journal.  Could it be the pleasure factor?  In fact, there is a chemical scientific basis for cocoa’s healthful effects. Cocoa has more antioxidant chemicals—those that prevent cancer and heart attacks—than either tea or red wine, according to a recent article in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry.  According to a recent Harvard University study, the Kuna people of Panama, who consume more cocoa than almost any group in the world, also have very low rates of heart attack, stroke and high blood pressure.  So load up on chocolate and enjoy– it’s good for your health!
